Happy June, friends! 🌸

June is literally my month, it’s my birth month and the month my allergies finally chill out, so yay for that! 🥳✨

Today, we’re talking about my May wrap-up. Sadly, May was one of those months where I didn’t read much. A lot happened in my personal life, and I just wasn’t in the right headspace to fully enjoy reading.

That said, I still managed to read three books, and two of them ended up being 4-star reads, which honestly made me so happy! 🌟📚

This month, I’ve decided to start tracking my reading a bit more, so I’ll be adding the number of books on my TBR and the books I bought this month to keep better track of my reading journey.

So without further ado, let’s dive into the books I read in May! 💬👇

Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨

Summary

Two writers compete for the chance to tell the larger-than-life story of a woman with more than a couple of plot twists up her sleeve in this dazzling and sweeping new novel from Emily Henry.

Alice Scott is an eternal optimist still dreaming of her big writing break. Hayden Anderson is a Pulitzer-prize winning human thundercloud. And they’re both on balmy Little Crescent Island for the same reason: To write the biography of a woman no one has seen in years–or at least to meet with the octogenarian who claims to be the Margaret Ives. Tragic heiress, former tabloid princess, and daughter of one of the most storied (and scandalous) families of the 20th Century.

When Margaret invites them both for a one-month trial period, after which she’ll choose the person who’ll tell her story, there are three things keeping Alice’s head in the game.

One: Alice genuinely likes people, which means people usually like Alice—and she has a whole month to win the legendary woman over.

Two: She’s ready for this job and the chance to impress her perennially unimpressed family with a Serious Publication

Three: Hayden Anderson, who should have no reason to be concerned about losing this book, is glowering at her in a shaken-to-the core way that suggests he sees her as competition.

But the problem is, Margaret is only giving each of them pieces of her story. Pieces they can’t swap to put together because of an ironclad NDA and an inconvenient yearning pulsing between them every time they’re in the same room.

And it’s becoming abundantly clear that their story—just like the tale Margaret’s spinning—could be a mystery, tragedy, or love ballad…depending on who’s telling it.

Set Piece by Lana Schwartz ⭐⭐⭐

Summary

A chance encounter leaves a breakout TV star and no-nonsense bartender wanting more, but life gets in the way. They find each other again five years later, while working on a movie set—but is there room in their lives for this second chance at romance?

Even one year ago, no one would have recognized Jack Felgate at a bar. But after his steamy breakout TV role, he’s surprised to be swarmed by fans during a night out with friends. When the practical bartender CJ intervenes to fend off his admirers, he’s grateful—and more than a little eager to stick around for an after-hours drink–turned–tryst.

Five years later, Jack shows up to set for his starring role in (yet another?!) adaptation of The Great Gatsby only to find CJ is the film’s production designer. But neither of them is the same person they were back CJ is a single mom with a four-year-old, and Jack is a bona fide celebrity managing ceaseless demands on his time and attention.

Their chemistry hasn’t dimmed since they saw each other last, but is there room in their lives for anything more than one very memorable night together?

Enchantra by Kaylie Smith ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary

Ready or Not meets Throne of the Fallen in a spicy, enemies-to-lovers fantasy romance, where an Italian getaway turns deadly after a young woman is trapped in her host family’s cursed game.

Ready or not, the game has begun.

Genevieve Grimm has felt adrift ever since her sister became the head of the family. So when a mysterious friend of their mother’s invites her to Italy, she accepts. She arrives at his grand palace, expecting passion and magic, decadence and luxury… perhaps even a midnight ball.

She doesn’t expect the owner’s ruthlessly handsome son to slam the door in her face. Rowin Silver is tall, dark, and exceptionally rude, and invitation or not, he demands Genevieve leave and never come back. But Genevieve follows nobody’s orders, especially those of arrogant rich boys. She slips inside—and immediately discovers her mistake.

Rowin and his family are caught in an insidious game of hide and seek, where only one can win. The rest will be trapped in Hell… until the competition begins again.

Genevieve must either join the hunt or forfeit any hope of escaping. But to her dismay, her best chance of survival lies with Rowin. Since lovers may play as a pair, Rowin and Genevieve agree to form an alliance under the guise of a fake courtship. However, as they race through the game’s elaborate labyrinth, trapped among gleaming gold and shining marble, their loathing gives way to irresistible attraction. Only Rowin is keeping secrets, especially when it comes to his ruthless family, and Genevieve can’t help but wonder if she’s trapped in two treacherous games: Enchantra and the one Rowin is playing with her heart.

So those were the three books I read in May! 📚

Even though it wasn’t a big reading month, I’m still super happy because I finally got to read one of my most anticipated releases — and it did not disappoint. I loved every single second of it! 😍

Now onto my June goals:

🌟 Read two of my ARCs — one audiobook and one ebook

📝 Catch up on writing reviews (I’m so behind, it’s not even funny)

📚 Hopefully make a dent in my physical TBR

I’m already more than halfway through Caught Up by Liz Tomforde — and honestly? I’m surprised how much I’m loving it. Usually, the single dad/nanny trope isn’t my favorite, but the banter in this one is 100% on point. I can’t put it down!

Since we’re almost halfway through the year (how?!).

💬 Let me know in the comments: How are you doing with your reading goals?

I’m currently 5 books ahead of mine, so yay for that! 🙌📚

Until next time! 🫶
