Hey friends! 🍉

Can you believe it’s already the end of the month? 😮‍💨 July flew by, and while it wasn’t my most productive reading month (I only finished 3 books), I’m still proud of myself for pushing through, especially since I’ve been in a reading slump. This year hasn’t been the best for my reading mojo, but hey, a few pages are better than none, right?

Right now, I’m in the middle of two books because, of course, I’m doing the most trying to find something that really clicks. 😅 Fingers crossed I’ll finish them in August!

So without further ado, here’s a quick look at what I read in July! 💬👇

Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.

Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.

It’s such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother’s best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him. After all, he has made it clear that he wants her gone from his life.

But not everything is as it seems—and clichés sometimes become plot twists.

When Maya’s brother decides to get married in Taormina, she and Conor end up stuck together in a romantic Sicilian villa for over a week. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, between ancient ruins, delicious foods, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor might be hiding something from her. And as the destination wedding begins to erupt out of control, she decides that a summer fling might be just what she needs—even if it’s a problematic one.

Blood & Steel By Helen Scheuerer ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Summary

With her death foretold, Althea Zoltaire only has three years to become what she’s always dreamed of being: a warrior legend.

Women are forbidden to wield blades, so she has trained in secret her entire life. Now racing against the clock, she fights to secure her place in the elite guild charged with the protection of the five kingdoms.

The sparring and hazing of the new trainees border on deadly, but even more dangerous is her growing attraction to Wilder Hawthorne, her unwilling warrior chaperone.

All around them, schemes are afoot and darkness looms.

Will Althea pass the perilous initiation test and take her place as a champion of Thezmarr – or will the invading evil snatch away her dream before it starts?

The Tyrant Alpha’s Rejected Mate By Cate C. Wells ⭐⭐✨

Summary

He rejected me, and then he realized I’m the center of his world. Bummer.

Una

I keep my head down. In this backwards pack, females rank low, and my bad leg makes me damaged goods. It doesn’t help that I’ve never shifted. I don’t mind the late twenties single life, though. No one’s paying any attention as I build an illicit farmer’s market empire.

My roomies and I are doing it for ourselves, and if life under Killian Kelly is stifling, at least it’s predictable. We can deal.

But when biology finally kicks in, I lose my mind. I claim our alpha as my mate. And he rejects me in front of the whole pack.

It’s all good. It only hurts when I breathe. I’ll survive. That’s what I do.

Who wants an arrogant jerk for a mate, anyway? I’ve got a business to run.

Killian

To lead this pack out of the dark ages, I’ve had to be hard. Merciless. I don’t flinch, and I don’t make mistakes.

Una Hayes isn’t my mate.

My wolf might have some kind of strange infatuation, but if she were mine, I’d know it. And I can walk away, can’t I?

And if I keep coming back? If she starts living in my head?

I’m the strongest male in five generations. My pack scrambles to do my bidding. I can bring one quiet female back in line. No one can possibly be as stubborn as I am.

There’s no way I’ve ruined the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

I’m the Quarry pack alpha. I don’t lose.

So these are the 3 books I managed to finish in July, and honestly, I’m really proud of myself for it. 🥹 Despite the massive reading slump (or maybe even a life slump? lol), I still made some progress, and that’s a win in my book. 💪

I’m also happy to say I’m halfway through This Spells Love by Katie Robb and 21% into Vows and Ruins by Helen Scheuerer, fingers crossed I’ll finish both in August 🤞

If you’re reading this: What book helped you get out of your last reading slump? I’m always looking for recs that bring the spark back. ✨

Until next time. 💛
