“Love is not supposed to be beautiful. It’s supposed to be a raw, gritty struggle that forces you to face the most vulnerable parts of yourself, so that when the good times come, you can savor and enjoy them, fully appreciate what they’re worth. Otherwise, you take it all for granted.”
Every beginning of the year, I get this weird craving for dark romance books. Don’t ask me why, I honestly don’t even know myself. 😭 So I finally decided to pick up The Mindfck Series by S. T. Abby, which has been sitting on my radar for years. Yes, I know… I’m extremely late to the party, but hey, at least I made it.
And honestly? I don’t regret reading it at all, even if it was so intense at times that it literally gave me nightmares. 💀 Your girl had to accept the truth: I am not a thriller-suspense kind of gal. I survived… but barely.
But while he’s saving lives, I’m taking them. Collecting the debts that are owed to me.
Ten years ago, they took from me. They left me for dead.
They should have made sure I stayed dead.
Now I’m taking from them.
One name at a time.
I’ve trained for too long.
I’ve been patient.
I can’t stop now.
Revenge is best served cold…
They never see me coming, until I paint their walls red.
Logan doesn’t know how they hurt me. He doesn’t know about the screams they ignored. He doesn’t know how twisted that town really is.
He just knows people are dying.
He doesn’t know he’s in love with their killer.
No one suspects a dead girl.
And Logan doesn’t suspect the girl in his bed.
They’re looking for a monster.
Not a girl who loves red.
Not a girl in love.
I’m a faceless nightmare.
At least until I tell them the story they’ve pretended never happened.
But in the end, will Logan choose them? Or will we watch them burn together?
Review of The Mindfck Series by S. T. Abby
I really enjoyed reading The Mindfck Series. Honestly, I forgot how much I enjoy dark romance until this reminded me why I pick one up at least once a year. The last dark romance I read was at the beginning of last year, and this one made me realize that maybe I should reach for the genre more often, especially because these books are so bingeable and honestly perfect for pulling me out of a reading slump.
Now… will every dark romance work for me? Absolutely not. 😅 But this series proved that I can find ones I genuinely enjoy, maybe just slightly less intense next time, because wow… my nervous system needs recovery after this one lol.
Plot Analysis of The Mindfck Series by S. T. Abby
IMAGINE THIS:
The FBI is hunting a brutal serial killer… and he’s unknowingly falling in love with her.
Ten years ago, Lana was left broken and forgotten after an unspeakable tragedy that an entire town chose to ignore. Now, she’s back, not as a survivor, but as revenge itself. Carefully trained, endlessly patient, and fueled by justice no system ever gave her, she’s eliminating the people who destroyed her life, one calculated kill at a time.
The only complication? Logan Bennett, the FBI profiler assigned to the very case she’s at the center of. Logan believes in justice, in rules, in saving people. Lana believes some monsters don’t deserve saving. As their relationship grows, so does the danger, because while Logan is getting closer to catching a killer… he’s also falling hopelessly in love with her.
What follows is a dark, high-stakes game of secrets, vengeance, and forbidden love, where every moment raises the same impossible question: when the truth comes out, will love survive… or will justice win?
Characters of The Mindfck Series by S. T. Abby
Lana Myers: She is definitely not your typical FMC. She’s badass, strong-headed, fearless, and honestly has zero feelings to spare for the people who destroyed her life. Her past is incredibly heavy, and while her actions are undeniably dark, you still find yourself rooting for her every step of the way. She’s the true morally grey character of this story, unapologetic, ruthless, and completely shaped by what she survived. And honestly? I was having an absolute blast reading from her perspective and fully embracing that chaotic, revenge-driven energy.
Logan Bennett: Oh sweet Logan… I loved this man so much. I adored the way he was with Lana, always wanting to protect her, always stepping in like her personal shield… while ironically he was the one who probably needed protection the most. 😭 He was caring, patient, and genuinely good in a world that was anything but.
But then… the last part of the book happened. And if you know, you know. I was SO mad at him. For such a smart man, he made a decision that had me staring at my Kindle like, sir??? are you actually serious right now?? It genuinely grated on my nerves. But honestly… I still love him anyway. Against my better judgment. 😩
The romance: It was actually my first time reading a romance where the morally grey character is the FMC, and let me tell you… I was thriving. My little heart was screaming YES, A WOMAN! 😂 Like yes, she’s morally questionable for… very valid illegal reasons, but still, a woman unapologetically taking revenge? I was seated, invested, emotionally compromised.
I absolutely loved their dynamic. The way Lana felt seen with Logan, how she slowly allowed herself to soften around him and reconnect with parts of herself she’d buried for years… it genuinely got to me. You could feel her trusting him little by little, and I found myself rooting so hard for the small, wounded version of her that never really got to heal.
And honestly, the way their story ended? I felt overwhelmed with happiness for them. After everything they went through, all I wanted was for them to finally get peace, and I’m choosing to believe they stayed happy, safe, and far away from sadness forever. 🖤
Pacing & writing style
Honestly, the writing in the Mindfck series wasn’t the strongest, let’s just be real for a second. But it was incredibly bingeable. I genuinely couldn’t put it down. It’s easy to follow, fast-paced, and one of those stories where you keep saying “just one more chapter” until suddenly it’s 3 a.m.
That being said, the story itself is very dark, and that heaviness definitely bleeds into the writing at times. Some moments felt intense and emotionally weighty, which makes sense considering the themes, but it can also make the reading experience feel overwhelming here and there. Still, the addictive plot completely makes up for it.
The pacing in the Mindfck series was actually really good, I honestly have zero complaints about it. It kept me completely engaged from start to finish. Even when I had to put my Kindle down just to breathe after some scenes, the story never really left my mind. I was constantly thinking about it and itching to dive back in.
It hooked me the entire time, keeping me curious, tense, and desperate to see how everything would unfold. I was always trying to piece things together, questioning everyone, and wanting to devour every page the second I picked it back up. Definitely one of those series that refuses to let your brain rest.

Some quotes I enjoyed
“Life sucks,” he says randomly. “Then you die. Might as well live while you’re still alive,”
“I’m not sure what compelled me to call him, flirt with him, then agree to a date. Maybe it’s because I need to feel less like a cold monster and more like a woman. I lived. Others died. I lived, yet I feel dead.”
“Sometimes people don’t find justice. Sometimes they have to take it.”
“Logan?”
“Yeah?”
“Come back in one piece no matter what you have to do in order to make that happen. That’s the only thing I’ll ever expect. Survive.”
A slow smile tugs at the corners of my mouth. “That I can promise.”
“But they’re looking for a monster. Not a girl who loves red. Not a girl who is falling in love. Not a girl who died ten years ago.”
“Then you wanted to kill him. He’s too good to die. He’s everything opposite of us. His light still shines. I hope they have fun with you in hell. You sentenced yourself there the day you targeted the only thing that makes me feel as though there’s still a soul inside me left to be saved. The only thing I love more than revenge.”
“I’ve heard that time heals all wounds, but that’s not true. Falling in love? That’s what makes you forget your anger.”
“He holds me to him, his touch so demanding and strong. I love being in his arms, feeling that security that exists within a simple embrace.”
“I love you too, Lana Myers,” he says so softly. And in that moment, I’m completely his. There’s no revenge; there are no deaths staining my hands. I’m just a girl in love with a man who’s destined to hate me when he learns the truth. And it’s devastatingly tragic; more so than any Shakespearian play ever was.”
“Romantics always believe in revenge, because romantics love harder, suffer loss more painfully, and hold onto a grudge that has shattered their hearts. Their hearts are of the greatest importance, above all else—body, soul, or mind.”
“I’m back, motherfuckers,” I say quietly as we pass the town hall. “And I’m going to make your life hell before I paint your town red.”
“It’s everything I need and more. He’s everything I wish I could be. A hero. A hero loved by a monster.”
“I’d love you regardless. In case you haven’t noticed, I go a little crazy when it’s been too long since I’ve seen you, and you give me a reason to want to live instead of just exist. You accepted every piece of me, and dealt with the scraps I could offer. And never complained.”
“And you smile for me like you smile for no one else. That makes a man feel powerful. And when I’m with you, I smile like I never have before. It’s a sense of equality, a partnership even. It’s rare to find someone who matches you step for step, and you do. I love that about you. I love you.”
“It’s not a man who just saved my life. It wasn’t a beast at all. It was a woman.”
“I thought love would rip my heart out. I thought it would set me on fire. Instead, it turned me into ice.”
“I love him enough to burn the world to the ground in his name.”
“I decided if I could choose anywhere in the world to be, it’d be wherever you were,”
“I love you,” I whisper across his lips. “I love you, Lana Vorhees,” he says, grinning. It’s our own twisted version of perfection.”
Final Thought
Honestly? The Mindfck Series was one of those reads that completely caught me off guard. I went in expecting a dark romance binge to scratch my yearly chaos craving… and walked out emotionally exhausted, slightly traumatized, sleep-deprived, and somehow completely satisfied. 😭
Was it intense? Absolutely. Did it push me way outside my comfort zone as someone who is not built for thriller-level darkness? Also yes. But that’s kind of what made the experience memorable. This wasn’t just romance, it was revenge, survival, healing, and love growing in the most impossible circumstances.
It reminded me that sometimes the books that unsettle you the most are also the ones that stick with you the longest. Lana and Logan’s story was messy, brutal, emotional, and strangely beautiful in its own twisted way. And while I may need several fluffy romances and emotional therapy sessions to recover… I don’t regret reading a single page.
Will I read dark romance again? Yes.
Will I maybe choose something slightly less psychologically damaging next time? Also yes. 😅
But one thing is certain: The Mindfck Series is unforgettable, the kind of story that lives rent-free in your head long after you finish, whether your nervous system approves or not. 🖤

The Mindfck Series by S. T. Abby Jay Age Rating
I recommend The Mindfck Series for readers 22+. This is an extremely dark series that contains multiple heavy trigger warnings and is definitely not suitable for a younger audience. Even if you’re over 22, I strongly suggest checking the content warnings beforehand. The story includes very graphic and disturbing themes such as violence, body gore, and rape. Honestly, there were several moments where I had to physically put my Kindle down because the scenes were so intense and emotionally heavy.
