Happy Monday, friends! And happy April! 🌸 Spring is finally here—the sun is shining, the weather is warming up, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Here in France, we’ve moved the clocks forward, so the days feel a little longer, which I love.
March had its ups and downs for me reading-wise. I had my first DNF of the year (which is always a little disappointing), and I hit a reading slump around the middle of the month. Thankfully, I managed to pull myself out of it by the end! I don’t know about you, but I tend to fall into a reading slump after a bad or disappointing book. I feel like that’s an unpopular opinion since most people seem to slump after finishing an amazing book. But here I am, struggling because a book didn’t live up to my expectations, lol. Anyone else relate? 😅

Lovely Shattered Secrets by Abbey Easton

Summary
I only want to start over after my life falls apart into bloody pieces. When the bus stops in Cypress Falls, I can’t think of a more beautiful place to find myself again.
The last thing I expect is to literally fall into the arms of the devastatingly handsome, broody small town cop.
Atlas Ranes has his own story of tragedy. Always feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders, I want nothing more than to make him see that he deserves everything he wants in life: Love. Happiness. Family.
But when our pasts catch up with us, the secrets we keep threaten everything…Including the lives we’ve worked so hard to put back together.
I rarely DNF books, but this one just wasn’t for me. I couldn’t connect with it at all.
The FMC was introduced with a backstory full of trauma caused by a man, or at least, that’s what I gathered from her POV. But then, in the next second, she’s literally jumping into the arms of a man she barely knows … from the deck of a boat! Like, how old are you? Where did all that trauma suddenly disappear to? And it doesn’t stop there, she sleeps next to him. Girl, you have deep-seated trust issues, and yet you’re completely fine doing this?!
And just when I thought it couldn’t get worse, she accepts his offer to live in his guesthouse, sharing a kitchen with two complete strangers. At that point, I was done. That was my breaking point, and I officially DNF’d. 🤦♀️
An overdue match by Sarah Monzon ⭐⭐

Summary
Before Logan Barnes was hockey’s hottest bad boy, he was my brother’s best friend … and my first crush. Oh, yeah—and the guy who ghosted me and broke my teenage heart.
Now Logan is back in Harvest Hollow, but not willingly. Recovering from an injury (and some bad press), he’s stuck playing for our minor league team.
Which means I’ll be working with him almost daily.
As the hockey team’s social media manager, it’s my job to wrangle all the guys into filming TikTok trending videos. But Logan doesn’t want to be wrangled.
Turns out … neither does my heart.
Because my old crush never died.
And when Logan becomes my accidental fake boyfriend, those old feelings flare hot enough to melt the ice.
But this is all totally one-sided. Totally fake. Isn’t it?
No matter what signals he seems to be giving me or how real things start to feel, I know Logan’s not home for good.
I survived Logan leaving me once. But this time, I’m not so sure my heart will recover…

finished four books in March and had my first DNF of the year! 📚 Currently, I’m 25% into Deep End by Ali Hazelwood and 68% into A Harvest of Hearts by Andrea Eames. Hoping April brings better reads because my average rating last month was pretty low, I need some great books to make up for it!
